About the Poetry Society of Virginia

Founded at the College of William and Mary in 1923, the Poetry Society of Virginia is the second oldest State Poetry organization in the nation. The PSV has over 300 members from all areas of the Commonwealth, as well as members from other states and foreign countries.

Elected Vice Presidents represent each of five regions and host at least one state-wide meeting a year. Our meetings include regional events, guest poets, workshops, open readings and contests. The annual festival features readings, workshops, and scholarly presentations.

The Newsletter includes details about upcoming meetings, book reviews, contest announcements, regional news, and publishing opportunities.
A number of our members enjoy creating Round Robin poems by e-mail, using our e-mail address: PoetryinVA@aol.com. We use e-mail to announce upcoming local events and other communications. Note: Contest entries cannot be accepted by e-mail.

Our website www.PoetrySocietyOfVirginia.org, provides information about the Society and links to other websites of interest to members. Finished Round Robin poems can also be viewed there.
