Meet Virginia’s Poets
Special from The Poetry Society of Virginia
Bob Kelly lives just off the James River in Newport News. He was drawn to that area by one of the finest shipyards in the country. Now, as a retired shipbuilder, he enjoys writing poetry and prose and taking classes at Christopher Newport University.
HOMECOMING
There she is, her big brown eyes Offering adoration, acceptance, forgiveness.
She crosses the room seeing only him. They have been apart too long.
He thinks of their intimate times together, Days of trust, complete understanding.
She sits in his lap, her soft body Warming his. Life is complete.
Aauugh! Her breath is terrible. He must change her dog food.
