Diversity & Accessibility

On Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

We will not tolerate discrimination, biases, harassment, or bullying of any kind. Regardless of race, socio-economic status, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, gender, or marital status, we are an organization that celebrates the richness of our community.

Our Commitment to Accessibility for PSV Programming, Events and Members

The Poetry Society of Virginia (PSV) is committed to providing accessible and inclusive programs and events to all individuals, regardless of technology or ability. We are dedicated to ensuring that our events are welcoming, accommodating, and respectful of the diverse needs of our attendees.

Thank you for choosing to participate in Poetry Society of Virginia events. We look forward to welcoming you and making your experience enjoyable and accessible. Your presence enriches our events, and we are here to support you in any way we can.

Accessible Venues

We strive to select event venues that are physically accessible, including ramps, elevators, and accessible restroom facilities. Whenever possible, we also choose venues that have accessible parking options.

Communication

Our event materials, including invitations, promotional materials and programs, are designed to be accessible to a wide audience. If you require event information in an alternative format or have specific communication needs, please contact us in advance, and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Assistive Technologies

We are committed to providing accommodation such as sign language interpreters, assistive listening technology, or captioning services when requested in advance and available for PSV as an organization. We appreciate advance notice to ensure we can make appropriate arrangements. To request accommodation for an upcoming event, please contact us at thepoetrysocietyofvirginia@gmail.com at least one week prior to the event. We will attempt to implement late requests but cannot guarantee meeting these requests.

Reviews

We value feedback from our attendees and are continuously working to improve the accessibility of our events. We are committed to reviewing and updating our accessibility policies and practices regularly to better serve our community. Your feedback and input are essential to this process. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions regarding accessibility, please do not hesitate to contact us.
